Poker Hi Lo Rules Info
Being probably the most popular card game in the world poker has lots
of variations that also have many fans. In traditional poker if you
have the best hand, the hand of the biggest value, you win the game.
But there are several variants of poker, so called low hand poker games
and high low games where the principle of the best traditional hand
doesn't allow to win the whole pot. According to hi lo poker rules the
pot should be shared between the players with the high and low hands.
The most common techniques of playing high low poker games are called
cards speak and declaration. In declaration games every game
participant declares if he wants to play for the low or the high poker
hand. So there appear a group of players declaring low hands
and
the player with the lowest hand gets the half of the pot. The other
half of the pot goes to the player with the highest hand who belongs to
the group of players declared high hands. As for cards speak games,
players just open their cards at showdown and evaluate the hands, and
the pot is also divided between the lowest and the highest hand
holders. Actually the pot can be shared not only among two players,
sometimes it can be divided among the player with the high hand and,
for example, two players that tie for the lowest hands. It also happens
that one player turns to be the holder of the best high and the best
low hands at the same time, in this case he wins the whole pot. In
other words poker hi lo rules can differ for different variations of
this game and every variation is interesting in its own way. |
